In Chicago, there are over 100,000 children living in poverty. At Second Touch Soccer, we believe that every one of these children, and more, should have the opportunity to play soccer.

What is Second Touch Soccer?

Soccer is the world's sport. No one should be denied the joys of playing the beautiful game. Based in Glenview, IL, Second Touch Soccer's mission is to give every child that opportunity. We collect and refurbish gently used soccer gear, giving Chicagoland's underserved youth access to play with top notch gear. This December, we surpassed 100 total cleat donations - thank you all for your support!

Our Story

William Stephan, a 17 year old at Glenbrook South High School, is the founder of Second Touch Soccer. He started the organization as a vehicle to fuel his strong passion for soccer. However, he knows it is not always accessible for some people. Having recognized this issue, his mission is to do all he can to ensure kids just like him have access to the right equipment to play the sport everyone loves.

Our Process

We accept all soccer equipment for kids K-12. This includes: cleats, shin guards, socks, jerseys/training clothes, balls, goalie gloves, and training equipment (e.g. cones, ladders, etc.). Donations can be made via pick up or drop off in Glenview. Please contact us to coordinate.

When we receive the gear, we thoroughly clean and sanitize it to make it as good as new. For used cleats, we take the insoles and shoelaces out and clean them with a UV shoe sanitizer. This eliminates 99.9% of germs and bacteria in the cleats.

Once fully cleaned, our donated equipment is distributed to local families, soccer clubs, and other organizations who support those in need.
